This is the classic platform-versus-tool decision in real estate software. BoldTrail — the platform that spent years as kvCORE before Inside Real Estate’s 2024 rebrand — wants to be everything: CRM, IDX websites, lead generation, marketing automation, and back office in one negotiated bundle. Follow Up Boss wants to be one thing extremely well: the CRM at the centre of whatever stack you assemble around it. Neither of these is our product, so read this as a neutral map from their public materials, with the Canadian lens we bring to best CRM in Canada applied at the end.
What BoldTrail offers
Scope, front office to back. The current BoldTrail line spans the core platform — AI-powered CRM, IDX websites, lead generation, marketing automation, and analytics — plus BackOffice for commission management, agent billing, and accounting integration, and Recruit for recruiting and retention tooling, with a marketplace of add-ons around it. That is a brokerage-shaped catalogue: one vendor for the consumer site, the agent’s pipeline, and the office’s books. Pricing is not published; the site routes you to a demo, and deals are negotiated by package and seat count.
What Follow Up Boss offers
The most respected pure CRM in the category, with its numbers on the page. As of August 2026: Grow at $69 USD per user monthly, Pro at $499 monthly including 10 users, Platform at $1,000 monthly including 30 users — each with cheaper annual rates, listed per-extra-user pricing, a free trial, and no contracts. Calling and texting are unlimited on the upper tiers, AI features run across all plans, and the integration ecosystem is the real product: hundreds of lead sources, websites, and tools feed one pipeline. FUB has operated under Zillow Group ownership since its 2023 acquisition while remaining a standalone product.
How to choose between them
The seat-count spreadsheet decides less than the architecture question: who owns the website? If your brokerage wants the consumer site, agent sites, lead gen, and commission plumbing from one accountable vendor, BoldTrail’s consolidation is the point, and a negotiated enterprise agreement is the natural shape of that purchase. If your team already has a website it likes and buys leads from multiple sources, FUB’s aggregation model is cleaner, cheaper to enter, and easier to leave — the trial-and-no-contract posture means the cost of a wrong choice is a month, not a term.

Where BrokerFold fits
We sit between these two shapes, in a different country. Like BoldTrail, we believe the website and CRM belong in one system — because the CRM is only as smart as the behaviour data feeding it. Like Follow Up Boss, we publish pricing and skip the contracts: $89 to $999 CAD monthly, seats included by tier, 14-day trial without a card. What neither US vendor addresses publicly is the Canadian board layer — TRREB feeds, VOW sold-data compliance, CASL consent — which is where our platform starts; the full pricing landscape across all three is tabled on CRM pricing compared. If you are choosing between kvCORE’s heir and FUB for a Canadian team, ask both the board question first, then ask us for the same demo scrutiny — the comparisons at BrokerFold vs kvCORE and BrokerFold vs Follow Up Boss hold our side of that argument to the standard this page applies to theirs.
Frequently asked questions
Is kvCORE the same thing as BoldTrail?
Yes, by lineage. Inside Real Estate rebranded kvCORE as BoldTrail starting in 2024, consolidating it with other products in their portfolio. If a vendor demos BoldTrail when you asked about kvCORE, you are looking at the same platform family under its current name.
Which one is cheaper?
Only one of them will tell you from the page. Follow Up Boss publishes USD pricing — Grow at $69 per user monthly, Pro at $499 for 10 users, Platform at $1,000 for 30, with lower annual rates. BoldTrail's pricing is demo-gated and negotiated. A fair comparison means getting BoldTrail's quote for your exact seat count and term in writing first.
Do I need a separate website with Follow Up Boss?
Yes — FUB is deliberately a CRM only, and expects your website, portal accounts, and lead vendors to feed it through its integration ecosystem. BoldTrail bundles IDX websites into the platform. That difference, not any single feature, is usually what decides between them.
