Careers
No theatre. Real craft.
We're a small, senior team building BrokerFold in Toronto. We ship carefully, work deeply, and treat product quality as a personal obligation — not a company value on a poster.
We're not actively hiring for specific roles right now.
We'd rather stay small than hire someone who isn't essential. If you're exceptional at product engineering, design, or go-to-market for B2B SaaS — especially in real estate, PropTech, or fintech — we still want to hear from you. Send a short note about your work to support@brokerfold.com. Links beat résumés.
How we work
The day-to-day, honestly.
Writing-heavy, meeting-light
Decisions are documented before they're debated. Most of our sync time is a Friday demo + a Monday kickoff. Your calendar is yours to protect.
Small teams, full ownership
No committees, no three-layer sign-off. Each person owns a slice of the product — design, engineering, and decisions — and is trusted to ship it.
Remote, with a Toronto anchor
Canada-based, async-first. The founder is in Toronto; we meet in person a handful of times a year. Your timezone should mostly overlap with Eastern.
Craft over pace
We ship often but we never ship sloppy. If a feature needs another week of polish, it takes it. We don't race a quarterly roadmap to the detriment of the product.
What we look for
The qualities we care about when we do hire.
Taste
You have strong opinions about good software — things that look right, feel right, and age well. You notice the detail nobody else ships, and you care about it.
Range
You can hold a design conversation with a designer, a DB conversation with an engineer, and a customer call without changing voice. Specialization is fine; narrowness isn't.
Ownership
You don't finish at the pull request. You finish when the user's problem is solved — and you check in two weeks later to make sure it stayed solved.
Directness without ego
You give and receive feedback without softening it or personalizing it. You change your mind when you hear a better argument, and you argue hard for the best idea.
Interview process
How we'd hire if a role opened tomorrow.
- 01
Intro call (30 min)
A conversation, not a grilling. What you're working on, what you want next, what you'd want in a company.
- 02
Paid work sample (4–6 hours)
A small, real problem tied to the role — we pay for your time either way. We look at the output and talk about the tradeoffs you made.
- 03
Team conversation (60 min)
You meet whoever you'd work with day-to-day. We show you the codebase, the roadmap, and where we're stuck. You ask anything you want.
- 04
References + offer
We call two references — your pick. If it's a fit, you get a written offer inside 48 hours with comp, equity, and start date.
Total time commitment is usually 6–7 hours, spread over 2 weeks. We'll tell you a yes or no inside 3 business days of the last step.
Compensation
Pay philosophy, out loud.
- Cash
- Top-of-market for Canadian tech — we benchmark against Shopify, 1Password, and Jane.app at each level.
- Equity
- Meaningful grants for early hires. We'd rather give fewer people more, and vest on a four-year schedule with a one-year cliff.
- Benefits
- Full health + dental (top-tier plan), $2k/year learning budget, home office stipend, and laptop of your choice.
- Time
- Unlimited PTO with a 4-week minimum floor. We expect you to take it. Founders go first — if we're not taking time off, nobody will.
